privacy policy
Last updated: 8 August 2026What the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Every promise below is enforced by the database rather than by our good intentions. Where a claim is checked automatically, this page says which check.
01 Who we are
Buzz ("we", "our", "the app") is an app for gig and delivery drivers to track their own trips and connect with other drivers. It is operated by Gigzen Private Limited, a company registered in India and based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
We handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Where you use the app from another country, we apply the protections described here regardless of where you are.
02 What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Phone number | Sign up and log in | Your account identity and login |
| Name | Sign up | Shown on your profile and on anything you post |
| Location | Only while tracking is on | Distance travelled, earnings estimate, and the community map if you enable it |
| Photos you choose | When you attach one | Images you add to a post or send in a chat |
| Posts and messages | When you write them | To run the community and messaging features |
| Your settings | When you set them | Vehicle, rate, daily goal, language and currency |
| Notification token | If you allow notifications | To deliver notifications to your device |
We do not sell your personal data to anyone, ever.
03 How location works
Location is only collected while you are actively tracking. It starts when you tap "Start Tracking" and stops when you tap "Stop Tracking". The app does not collect your location in the background, and it does not track you when the app is closed.
If you turn on "Share stats with community" in Settings, other drivers can see your approximate live position and today's distance and earnings on the map. This is off unless you choose it, and turning it off removes your position from the map immediately.
04 Photos
You can attach a photo to a community post or a chat message. The app only accesses the specific image you pick — it does not read your photo library, and it does not upload anything you have not chosen. Photos you post are visible to other users of the app.
05 Notifications
If you allow notifications, your device is given an anonymous token so we can send you alerts about messages, likes, comments and connection requests. The token identifies a device, not a person, and is deleted when you delete your account. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.
06 Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase (a hosted PostgreSQL service) using row-level security, so each account can only reach its own private data. Notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. Map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap and CARTO, and place searches use Nominatim. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
07 Who can see your data
- Other users — only what you choose to make public: your name, your posts and comments, and your live map position if you enabled sharing.
- Service providers — the companies listed above, purely to run the app.
- Authorities — only where we are legally required to.
Your phone number is never shown to other users.
08 Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can access your data, correct it, or have it erased, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
Deleting your account. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, settings, posts, messages and location history. It cannot be undone. You can also email us to make the same request.
09 How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, settings, posts, messages and location history are removed. Distance and earnings figures reset daily and are not kept as long-term history.
10 Children
Buzz is intended for working drivers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11 Security
All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Access to data is controlled per-account at the database level, and app releases are cryptographically signed. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
12 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be marked with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, a notice inside the app.
13 Contact
We aim to respond to privacy requests within 30 days.
